Nestled in between two larger cities Toronto to its east and Hamilton to its west, the town of Oakville is a part of the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), but also self-governing with its own municipal council. The city has a rich selection of real estate to choose from including a superb assortment of condominiums. Not surprising given that it is also one of the richest communities in the Province of Ontario. Whether you prefer a loft, apartment, townhouse, or semi-detached unit, you will find a condo to rent or buy in Oakville.
The city has grown quite a bit over the years especially once the rail line came through in the 1800’s. Later on when the Canadian National Railways (now simply known as CN) became the major rail player in the 1920’s the area saw an industrial boon. Today over 200 corporate head offices reside in Oakville.
Many activities can be had in the region given its close proximity to Lake Ontario. There are lovely harbors and marinas for boating enthusiasts. Luxury condos of varying size, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and offering a selection of floor plans and amenities are also in close proximity as well. Many parks and green spaces can be enjoyed including several fine golf courses. One of the most famous greens is the Glen Abbey Golf Course, originally designed by Jack Nicklaus. It is one of Canada’s most prestigious golf courses and a regular of the PGA tours. Many famous names have swung their clubs here including world renowned Tiger Woods. Condos are available not far from the course too.
Besides golf there are many other sporting activities to partake of including soccer, lacrosse, hockey, figure skating, swimming, tennis etc. For those interested in enjoying the great outdoors the area offers some fine campgrounds in the Bronte Creek region as well. There are community recreation centres and recreation centers for seniors.
The metropolis also offers a rich diversity of cultural pursuits having its own symphony orchestra and ballet company as well as the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts. For those with a more inquisitive taste there are art galleries and art classes as well as public libraries. Schooling is excellent and the various districts offer many fine educational facilities including the very distinguished Sheridan College.
There is some great shopping to be had at the Oakville Place mall with over 100 stores, boutiques and food courts. Many smaller shopping venues are also available throughout the area. Fine restaurants can also be found in Oakville with summer dining out on a terrace a pleasant and memorable experience. This is especially nice when enjoying the sights and sounds of the annual Jazz festival.
Picturesque, charming, subtle and distinguished. This best describes the peaceful yet exuberant living in Oakville. From beautiful harbors to well groomed golf courses, lively local festivities to enchanting dining spots, the borough sparkles as an example of how to live. It’s truly condo living and leisure at its best. |
